  • COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES: Furman, Clemson, and Anderson University. Beth also taught a four-week course on Uncharted Journey at Furman’s OLLI.
  • SCHOOLS: Greenville Earle College, Calhoun Academy of the Arts, West Pelzer Elementary, Palmetto Middle, Southside High, Greenville County CDC staffs, Greer Middle Charter High School, Crosswell Elementary, Bethel Elementary

Zion Presbyterian. Beth preached sixteen times in twelve churches.

Book Highlights

  • The Sacred Year came out in the spring of 2019. Presbyterian Communities of SC in Easley asked Beth to facilitate a four-week group based on the book. Ads for the book ran in both the ELCA and PCUSA national women’s magazines.
  • Uncharted Journey: On the Challenges of Getting Older and Other Transitions continued to interest people with retreats, workshops, small group conversation, and luncheon programs for Uncharted Journey.
  • The Christmas Strawberry is a good holiday gift.
  • Conversations on the Porch and More Conversations on the Porch continue to be used for women’s Bible studies.
  • Angelika’s Journal is used by Buncombe Street UMC Sprouts, United Way, a school district in West Virginia, and others.
  • Loving Our Neighbor is a basic resource for churches involved in poverty work.
  • Understanding Poverty in the Classroom continues to be a resource around the country.
  • The five-part DVD series, Servant or Sucker, produced by the UMC National Communication Ministries featuring Beth as the poverty expert was requested by two different congregations from other parts of the country.

*Our Eyes Were Opened began in 2007 while still under the umbrella of United Ministries. It became an independent corporation in May 2012.

** Poverty Tours were no longer part of Our Eyes Were Opened, Inc., in 2019

*** Records for Uncharted Journey participants began in 2019.

**** Other/customized workshops are still available. In 2019 groups chose other options.

***** Although Job Fair Simulations have been offered for a number of years, in 2019 they were given their own category rather than being folded into another one.
